FAQ
Sur-Ron offers certain models that may fit under the Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme (LAMS). LAMS approval depends on engine capacity and power-to-weight ratio. Check current NZTA guidelines or confirm directly with our team to ensure you select a Sur-Ron model that qualifies as LAMS-approved. For now, we have our ULTRA BEE R as LAMS approved bike.
To ride any LAMS-approved motorcycle on public roads in New Zealand, you need at least a learner motorcycle license. The exact license class depends on your experience and the bikeโs specifications. Always confirm your specific licensing requirements with the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA).
If the model is road-legal and LAMS-approved, youโll need to register it with Waka Kotahi (NZTA) like any other motorcycle. Insurance is strongly recommended; many insurers offer tailored coverage for electric motorcycles. Be sure to provide your insurer with your bikeโs details (including its VIN and specifications).
